Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive medical treatment in which a patient breathes oxygen at a higher level than atmospheric pressure while in a controlled total body chamber. The breathing of pressurized oxygen in our soft-shelled chamber results in the body receiving 10 to 15 times more oxygen than normal, enhancing the body’s natural healing process.
Oxygen is typically transported throughout the body by red blood cells. However, with HBOT, it’s dissolved into all of the body’s fluids, plasma, lymph, bones, and can be carried to areas where circulation is diminished or blocked. This allows the oxygen to reach the damaged tissues and the body can support its own healing process. The increased oxygen enhances the ability of white blood cells to kill bacteria, reduces swelling, and allows new blood vessels to grow more rapidly into the affected areas.
