  • Regular shoes that fit without AFOs for CME, and socks
  • Any other equipment you would like to incorporate in the session (walkers, wheelchairs, etc)

What to Wear The ideal outfit to be worn during an intensive session is a lightweight t-shirt and long lightweight pants or leggings. Baggy clothing tends to bunch up under the NeuroSuit and while in the cage. Jeans and shorts are also to be avoided. Please bring shoes that fit your child’s AFOs and a pair to wear without.

Do you offer a home program to continue after our session?

Yes, we offer a video home program of simple exercise we would like you to continue after the session. These exercise are what your therapists believe to be the most important for your child to continue, taking your hectic schedule into account.

What gains can I expect to see from an intensive therapy session?

As you know many of our children have the same diagnoses, but vastly differ in their level of ability. For this reason, it’s very difficult to judge exactly what gains your child may see from an intensive session. On the first day of your child’s session you will meet with your therapist and come up with a set of realistic goals for the next three weeks. Your primary concerns will be taken into account, so please feel free to discuss openly what you would most likely to concentrate on.Typically we strive for 6-12 months of typical development for your child, when comparing the program to a weekly therapy program.

How many hours per day would you recommend for my child?

The best way to determine which of our therapies are most appropriate for your child is to fill out our patient intake paperwork. Our therapists will review to confirm that your child is a candidate for our intensive program, and also recommend which of our therapies are best suited for your child’s needs, as well as how many hours per day they believe to be most appropriate.

What types of therapies should we choose for our session?

The best way to determine which of our therapies are most appropriate for your child is to fill out our patient intake paperwork. Our therapists will review to confirm that your child is a candidate for our intensive program and also recommend which of our therapies are best suited for your child’s needs. Please be as detailed as possible in the “current abilities” and “6-12 month goals” sections.

Can we add or decrease the number of hours per day once the session begins?

Once your session begins, we will not be able to decrease the number of hours in their therapy schedule, but we can increase upon availability. If you think your child may not be able to handle such a lengthy session, we recommend either starting lower and adding or breaking up the session throughout the day.

What time will my child’s session begin?

Our intensive sessions start as early as 8:00 AM, and end as late as 4:30 PM. If you would like a particular start time, we recommend booking well in advance (3+ months) and being flexible on other preferences of your child’s session.

Can I request a specific therapist?

You can request a previous therapist you’ve had, but we cannot guarantee any therapist for your session. Many other factors play into your child’s intensive schedule, but we will do everything we can to meet your scheduling preferences such as therapist, start time, therapy order, etc.If you would like a particular therapist, we recommend reserving your session well in advance (3+ months) and being flexible with your start time.

When is the soonest I can schedule my child’s next session?

Typically, we recommend a two-month break prior to your next session. You will continue to see gains after your child’s session, and it is just as important to build off those gains as the intensive session itself. If you would like to schedule another session within two months of your last, you will need to receive permission from one of NAPA’s therapists.
