Gracie
Gracie has tackled many feats since coming to NAPA: she is able to push through her arms, her sitting balance has dramatically improved, now able to walk around her entire block with her walker, is a strong communicator, and able to convey her message through her eyes and sound!

Jonathan

The intensive suit therapy session is just part of your child’s physical therapy regime. From a physiologic point of view, the child’s system must be consistently chal-lenged to yield positive cognitive and physical changes. Keeping this in mind, it is paramount to follow up treat-ment with an appropriate volume of home exercises de-signed by your Physical Therapist. Here are a few ideas of easy, yet powerful activities you can do with your child at home:

Antispastic Positioning- an easy one is sitting upright with knees straight, legs apart, and toes turned out

Prolonged Stretching –using the same antispastic posi-tion, simply turn the toes in to stretch the hamstrings and inner thighs

Ice/Heat- placing a hot pack or cold pack on a spastic area will help to decrease “tightness”

Rock star Joey on his 4th visit!

NAPA Center uses music as a tool! Kids love it!! Occupational Therapist, Kelli Smith, uses mu-sic for our NAPA stars to gain and maintain function during therapy sessions. Music creates a pur-pose for move-ments and gives the patients feedback for their movements. For Instance, an exercise for a child may be to...

sit and maintain balance while reaching forward to gain upper extremity, core strength and endurance. But, for a child there is more motivation to do this basic movement that most of us take for granted, when there is a drum, guitar or piano involved. When each instrument is struck, it provides the child with purpose for their movements.

Also, we implement music into our NAPA Center graduations! Each child becomes familiar with an instrument and we run through a song such as “[I Can See Clearly Now]” so that the children get to be part of a group experience and the parents get to enjoy and hear of their children’s success upon completion of a 3 week intensive therapy program!

NAPA therapists, parents, and the children love this part of our program!

NAPA Center is now accepting insurance! We will call your insurance company and you will only be required to pay for the portion which they do not cover. We've also got some great news, we are in network with BlueCross BlueShield! To celebrate, we are accepting BlueCross BlueShield as 100% payment for Sept., Oct., and Nov.(to those who qualify). NAPA Center strives to work with families in all ways possible to help with funding and/or resources. We will accept all insurances based on individual need. We are in the process of getting in network with other insurance companies to help our families out. Please call or e-mail if you would like us to inquire for you. Also, Grants are now available! A local grant is available for those living in California and there are also grants available for those who receive coverage from insurance but need assistance to pay the balance not covered.

We just wanted to let you know that NAPA has some new payment options that you can consider:

1. financing

2. insurance,and

3. grants (available to those who qualify)

We know our families go the extra mile to provide therapy for their children - and we consider ourselves your extended family - doing everything we possibly can on our end to help you.

Please call or email me if you have questions or would like to schedule a session
